How to compare a Black Friday price before you buy

A large discount is a starting point for comparison. Before buying, make sure the price applies to the exact item and conditions you need.

Match the model and the option

Compare model numbers, screen sizes, storage, included accessories and warranty terms. A product family advertised “from” one price may contain several sizes or versions. Clothing and shoes can have different prices and availability by size or color.

Understand the comparison price

A retailer’s crossed-out price, comparable value or stated savings is a reference supplied by that retailer. It does not establish the lowest price the item has sold for. Our listings label the reference we can support and leave missing prices empty.

For an example, QVC’s Keurig K-Mini Plus listing and Costco’s holiday ad show different kinds of retailer pricing. Check the exact source and the conditions rather than comparing a headline percentage alone.

Add the rest of the order cost

Include shipping, handling, delivery, required subscriptions or membership, and any applicable tax. Warehouse and online prices can differ. A lower item price may not produce a lower delivered total.

Read the coupon rules first

Look for a minimum eligible subtotal, account restrictions, excluded brands, one-use limits and a named time zone. Some rewards require a linked membership account. A code that works for a new customer may not work for an existing customer. Review our coupon listings and each linked retailer’s full terms.

Check availability and returns

Confirm that your selected option is actually available for your delivery address or pickup location. Read the applicable return policy, including holiday exceptions, final-sale conditions and restocking or return-shipping charges. Payment installments describe how a total is paid; compare the full purchase total.

Keep the source handy

Save the product page and check it again before paying. Our listings show when a source was checked. A deadline is marked unknown when we cannot verify a cutoff; a countdown does not reserve inventory or guarantee the offer will remain available.
